The Queens Visit 2011

Yesterday morning the girls & I caught the train into the city to see if we could get a glimpse of the Queen & Prince Philip. Before we arrived I tried to explain to the girls theat they weren't going to get a chance to meet the Queen which led to Piper bursting into tears because she wanted to give her some flowers & the picture she had drawn for her. When we arrived we headed straight to Federation Square where the Queen was going to do a quick walk through the crowd before boarding the 'Royal Tram'. The Square was absolutely packed so we staked a spot just off the side of it. We were right behind the barrier so I was hoping that the girls would be able to ee the Royal couple as they passed us on the tram.

After a couple of hours wait, with only a few litle meltdowns thrown in(by the girls & several other litle kids around us), the Royals arrived(over half an hour late - they had opened the Royal Children's Hospital before their arrival). We all waved excitedly at the Queen & Prince Philip as the Queen gave us her famous royal wave back.

I managed to get a really terrible photo of Prince Philp with the Queensfae blocked out by the tram's window frame(imagine this - I was trying to take the photo with one arm around Piper as she sat balanced on top of the barrier, trying to make sure LIly didn't fall as she stood up in the stroller & trying to take photos with the big boy aka the 7D). I have to say, I am a fan of Prince Philip, solely for all of those fantastically inappropriate comments he makes in our polically correct craziness!

After our brush with Royalty it was time for an icecream reward for my little Princesses for being so good(all things considered!).
