Up In Smoke

My plans have gone up in smoke! I've hit a wall. A big, thick wall with barbed wire & broken glass on top. My quest to go back to school has hit a dead end. I finally got a reply back from the TAFE I was looking to study at. Their Graphic Design course wasn't 100% what I was after but it seemed none of the ones I had looked at were offering exactly what I wanted. This one had a couple of big pluses going for it though - I could study online & I could study online!

The obstacle standing in my way? The fees. Because I have studied at a Certificate IV level before, I can't get subsidised fees. The Government will only contribute to my fees if I study for a Diploma or higher. To do the Diploma, I have to have done the Certificate IV first. So, the course would cost me $8000 to do. For a year. Thank you Australian Government.

Looks like I'll have to find a Plan B.

*It is thanks to Steve Jobs that I'm looking for a Plan B. When he passed away I read the many many tributes to him that were posted on blogs everywhere. I kinda knew who he was before, but only in the 'rich dude that started Apple' kinda way. I clicked on to his speech to the Stanford graduates of 2005 & I cried as I watched it. I really needed to see that. 'The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking, don't settle.' If I hadn't seen that video, I would have just given up, I wouldn't be contemplating a Plan B. Thanks Steve.
